Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka shankar is an British and American sitarist. She also plays music. She is the youngest female and was the first person to be awarded an official British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Sitar Shankar was an Indian young sitar artist. She's the child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. She was born in London in 1982, and spent her early years shuttling between London as well as New Delhi. At New Delhi, she made her debut when she was only thirteen years old. At the age of 13, she finished her high school studies at Encinitas CA. Anouskha was only an teen, has enjoyed an impressive recording and performing career. She regularly accompanies her father during performances, something she's done for quite a few years. In 1998, she debuted her debut solo album Anourag. In 2002, she debuted her Grammy award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall. Because she has performed on every major stage in the world, her performance career has been expansive. Anoushka Shakar's talents are not just limited to music. In 2002, she released a book entitled Bapi The Love of My Live this is a pictorial biography which pays special tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In addition, she has appeared in films in 2003 she acted in the film Dance Like a Man where she is a young Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka Shankar is currently a rising star and her career will continue to grow. Anoushka was raised in England, but spent most of her growing up between London as well as Delhi. Then she moved to California and enrolled in high school. She started learning to play the guitar when she was nine years old and played the sitar for the 75th anniversary of her father's birth in Delhi four years later. Accompanying her father as they toured around the globe, Anoushka racked up a wealth of experiences appearing in Carnegie Hall while still in her teens, performing in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival, and also making recordings with George Harrison. She was the only female recipient of the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament to recognize her artistry and musicianship as a preeminent musician of in the Asian Arts.
